Women's Health Project in Sheffield

The Women's Health project was funded by the Community Fund and New Opportunity Fund and delivered in partnership with Lai Yin Association.

Yoga Classes

The main aim of the yoga classes was to provide an opportunity for Chinese women to participate in regular exercise which was enjoyable, and relaxing for the body and mind. It was a new concept to run yoga clases with an English-speaking teacher and Cantonese interpretation. The response to the yoga classes was good. The majority of the participants had never attended yoga classes before.

Personal Support To Women

Women approached the project mainly to request help and support in accessing mainstream health services, such as making enquiries to hospitals concerning their referrals, requesting an interpreter, and health information relevant to their health condition.

Health Education on Women's Health Issues

We organised a health talk on common gynaecological problems, given by Mary Burley from the Women's Health Outreach Team in Sheffield.
