We have been nominated and subsequently elected to become a member of the Westminster Local Involvement Network (LINk) Steering Group to look after the interests of BME groups in Westminster.
International Conference on 'Promoting Community Mental Health' in Hong Kong

We were invited by the University of Hong Kong to participate and talk in the Conference on 'Promoting Community Mental Health' organised by the Caritas - HK, the Hong Kong Polytechnic University. Lucy Tran's joint presentation with the University of Hong Kong and Hong Kong Baptist University on "Application of the Community Engagement Model to the Identification of Mental Health Service Needs of Chinese Elders in the UK" was well received. During this trip Lucy also delivered a postgraduate research workshop at the University of Hong Kong on 'Conducting research on hard-to-reach groups in the UK - the study of potential mental health service users in the Chinese community'.

Henry G Leong Symposium 2009 in Hong Kong

We were invited to speak at the Henry G Leong Symposium 2009 and a Seminar by the University of Hong Kong. Our talks about caring for older Chinese people in the UK were well received. Nearly 300 people attended the symposium – the biggest audience for all Henry G Leong Symposia so far. See photographs of this event.
Child Obesity Training Day

Together with London Teaching Public Health Network, we set up this Healthy Weight for London’s Children Training Day at our Centre. The session covered: how to raise the issue of healthy weight with children and their families, information about obesity, nutrition and physical activity, and how to appropriately assist children and their parents in accessing local help and services.
Tackling Health Inequality in Westminster meeting and workshops

Healthy Menu Training in Belfast
15-18 February 2009
Over 50 chefs from takeaways and restaurants completed their training at Belfast Metropolitan College. Nancy Lam was the celebrity chef that helped us out on this training course. The Belfast Healthier Menu Toolkits were well received. The Council will run a reprint of this document for further distribution.
BME Advocacy and Commissioners Working Group Seminar

Advocacy Resource Exchange, ARX invited us to run a workshop action learning set based on our experience on working with the Chinese community. It was well received.
